Both

both 的意思是「兩者都」,專門用在數量剛好是兩個人或物的情況。

both(形容詞) + 名詞s 「籠統、任意一個、廣泛的名詞」

both後面是「籠統、廣泛的名詞」(沒有the/所有格)

both(形容詞) + 可數名詞S
  • I like both countries.
  • They are both students.(他們兩個人都是學生。
  • Both parents were teachers.(父母雙親都是老師 → 這裡的 parents 是泛指,所以不用加 of)
  • Both cars are expensive.(這兩台車都很貴)

each(各人 / 每一個,通常指兩者或以上個體)

  • 意思:強調群體中的「每一個個體」各自進行動作。
  • The students each received a small gift.(學生們每個人都收到了一個小禮物。)
  • They have each made their own decision.(他們每個人都已經做了自己的決定。)

none(沒有一個 / 全無)

  • 意思:用於三者或以上,表示全部否定。
  • They have none left.(他們沒有任何東西留下來了。)

把 none 當主詞(最常見、最自然)

  • 結構:None of + 特定複數名詞 + 複數動詞(或單數動詞皆可,口語常用複數)。
  • None of the kids were crying.孩子們當中沒有半個人在哭。

either(兩個選項都可以。)

  • You can either stay or leave.(你可以選擇留下,也可以選擇離開。)

neither(兩個選項都不行)

  • The two options are neither good for us.(這兩個選項對我們來說沒有一個是好的。)

遇到所有格, the, this 指示代名詞,都要用of

each 後面只能接「單數可數名詞」,each 的意思是「每一個」,它的大腦邏輯是把群體裡的成員「一個一個分開來看」。既然要一個一個數,它後面的名詞就必須是可以數的。

正確(可數單數): each person(每個人)、each day(每一天)、each time(每一次)。
