far遠, away遠, Distance距離

常用 far 來問距離（例如 How far is it?）

away(遠 副詞)

Away 是用來形容「有多遠」（副詞）， 放在「距離數字」後面，用來表示「距離某個起點有多遠的空間跨度」。

距離數字 + away

Two miles（兩英里）+ away（遠）兩英里遠

• two miles away

• one kilometer away

• My home is ten minutes away.（我家在十分鐘車程外。）
• The store is five blocks away.（那家店在五個街區外。）

away from 基準點

[地點 A] is + [距離數字] + miles/meters/minutes + away from + [地點 B]

• The airport is one kilometer away from here. （機場離這裡一公里遠。）
• It’s two miles away from the station.（離車站有兩英里遠。）
• The park is a mile away from my office.（公園離我辦公室有一英里遠。）

Distance 是「距離」

Distance 是「距離」（名詞)，Away 是用來形容「有多遠」（副詞）。

• The distance (from here to the airport) is one kilometer. （從這裡到機場的距離是一公里。）

away 離開

單獨看 away 時，它有「離開、在遠處」的意思。

• Go away!（走開！ / 離我遠一點！）
• He is away on business.（他出差不在家 / 人在遠處。）

far away 很遠

far(遠) + away（離開、距離）

• The star is far away.（那顆星星好遠。）
• My home is far away.我家很遠。

from 從哪個基準點開始算起

• Do you live far away from the sea? （你住的地方距離海邊很遠嗎？）
• Excuse me, is the museum far away trom here?
• The station is far away from the hotel.（車站離飯店很遠。）
• Is the museum far away from here?（博物館離這裡很遠嗎？）

Far 遠的

Far（遠的）➔ 常用在「否定句」與「疑問句」

• 疑問句： Is it far?（很遠嗎？）
• 否定句： It’s not far from here.（離這裡不遠。➜ far 習慣搭配 from 喔！）

肯定句

• It’s far away.（在很遠的地方。）
• It’s really far.（真的很遠。）
• It’s a long way.（那是一段很長的路 ➔ 口語超常用！）

close to / far from

How far

How far 專門問「實體距離（多遠）」，詢問空間上的「兩地之間的實際距離」（幾公里、幾英里、走幾步路）

• How far is the hotel?（飯店有多遠？）
  • It’s about 2 kilometers away.（大約兩公里遠。）

How far is A from B?

from 是一個「基準點」，跟cross from(基準點)的意思是一樣，不是「從…地方」

• How far is this train station from the international airport?從這個火車站到國際機場有多遠？
  • 隱藏句子: How far is this train station from the international airport (to here)? 火車站到機場(目的地)有多遠？
  • 起點（從哪裡出發）： here = this train station（這個火車站）
  • 目的地（要去哪裡）： the international airport（國際機場）
• How far is the international airport from this train station?
  • 火車站跟機場顛倒也可以，主要是問A點到B點距離

其它詢問方式

• How far is it to get to the airport from here? （從這裡到機場去有多遠？） 詢問花費多久時間
• How long does it take to get to the airport? （去機場要花多久時間？）

far from 距離

• It isn’t far from here. It’s very close. 這裡離那裡不遠 → 形容空間距離。

far from 時間

far 也可以用來形容時間很遠（通常用在疑問句或否定句）。

• Is the exam far away?（考試的時間還很遠嗎／很久以後嗎？）
• Christmas is not far.（聖誕節不遠了／快到了。

far 當作副詞修飾比較級（表示「差很多」）

• This phone is far better than that one. （這支手機比那支好得多。）
• English is far easier than I thought. （英文比我想像中簡單多了。）
