be動詞 + between A地 and B地 之間

Between（在…之間）—— 它是「介系詞」
核心意思：表示空間、時間或選擇上的「在兩者之間」。
文法特點：因為它是介系詞，所以後面必須接受詞（通常是兩個用 and 連接的人、事、物，或是複數名詞）。

• The bank is between the park and the school.（銀行在公園和學校之間 → 空間位置）
• Let’s meet between 3 PM and 4 PM.（我們在下午三點到四點之間碰面吧 → 時間）

• I can’t choose between this one and that one.（我沒辦法在這一個跟那一個之間做選擇）

• between the coffee shop and the zoo (在咖啡店和动物园之间 )
• between the museum and the restaurant 在博物馆和餐厅之间
• My house is between the park and the bank.我家在公園和銀行之間。
• The new bridge is between the city center and the airport.那座新橋位於市中心和機場之間。

between 時間 and 時間

• I’ll be at home between six o’clock and seven o’clock.(我在六点到七点之间会在家。)

between meetingS, classes

• We will eat lunch between meetings.我們在會議之間的休息時間吃午餐。
  • meetingS 複數S代表很多個會議的「間隔」時間
• Our school design keeps everything close, so students don’t spend too much time between classes.我們學校的設計讓所有東西都很近，所以學生在各個班級之間不會花太多時間。

during(介) 在…時候

during 是一個介系詞，最基本的中文意思就是「在…時候」，表示一段時間或一個事件，絕對不能直接接句子（主詞 + 動詞），特定的時間或活動「進行到一半」都可以用during。

「during + 期間」副詞片語，它是用來修飾動詞的，告訴別人某個動作是「在什麼時後」發生的。

它的核心功能是用來回答 「什麼時候發生的？」 或 「某個動作持續了多久的時間範圍？」。

during + 名詞（片語）

❌ during 後面不能直接接子句（不能接「主詞 + 動詞」）。

1.活動進行的時候，發生了什麼

• I fell asleep during the movie.（我在電影播放期間睡著了。）
• Please don’t talk during the exam.（請在考試期間不要交談。）
• We met a lot of interesting people during our stay in Japan.（我們在日本停留期間遇到了很多有趣的人。
• Don’t forget to drink water during the hike and have a good time.別忘了在健行時喝水，並玩得開心。
  • the hike 這裡變成了名詞（指「那趟健行 / 那次爬山」）。
  • during the hike：「在健行期間」、「健行的時候」。

2.during + 假期

• during the trip
• during the summer
• during the holidays（在假期期間）

during + 既有的時間名詞（季節、月份、假期、特定活動期間）

• during the summer（在夏天期間）
• during the week（在平日／週間期間）

• during the meeting（在會議進行期間）

• We traveled forthree days duringthe summer vacation.（我們在暑假期間旅行了三天。）
• they work hard during the week.他們平日工作很努力。

這句話的意思是：

「我們將在開會期間（或：在會議過程中）吃午餐。」

💡 為什麼這裡的 meetings 也要加 s？

道理和前面的 between meetings 非常像！

1. 泛指複數的會議： 這裡不是指「某一天特定的某場會議」，而是指一種常態或泛指的情況（例如：上班族常常遇到午休時間得開會、或者開會開到一半順便吃便當的這種工作日常）。
2. 通稱的用法： 當你在講「開會這件事」當作一個背景情境時，用複數 meetings 來代表這種職場狀況會聽起來非常自然。

⚠️ 不過，這句話有一個微妙的職場語感小陷阱！

如果英文母語人士聽到 We will eat lunch during meetings.，他們腦中浮現的畫面通常是：

• 畫面 A： 你們一邊開會、一邊拿三明治起來咬（邊開會邊吃飯）。
• 畫面 B： 「每一場」會議剛好都橫跨了午餐時間，所以你們會在會議中用餐。

但如果你其實想表達的是「會議跟會議的中間空檔、休息時間吃午餐」，用 during（在…期間）反而會有點怪，因為 during 代表「事情正在發生、進行的當下」。

• 如果你想表達「邊開會邊吃」：

• We will eat lunch during the meeting / meetings.（沒問題，正在開會時吃。）

• 如果你想表達的是「會議『與』會議之間的空檔」吃午餐：
• 就要用我們剛剛學過的 between 喔！
• We will eat lunch between meetings.（在會議空檔吃。）

所以，加 s 一樣是指「複數的會議」，只是搭配 during 時，畫面上變成是在會議進行的當下用餐！
